Queen Elizabeth II of England has been touring Australia for the past couple of days. The last time she was in the country was in 2006 for the Commonwealth Games, and many people speculate that this could be her last time here (she's 85 years old). Yesterday she made her stop in Melbourne to officially open up the new Royal Melbourne Children's Hospital. I was lucky enough to catch the announcement during the morning news broadcast, and I decided that I should take the opportunity to head down to Federation Square to see her. I couldn't believe the number of people already there when I arrived, but I was also surprised at the lack of fanfare when she made her grand entrance. I wasn't close enough to get a good picture of her, but luckily there was a big screen and I was able to zoom in on that. She walked through the crowd and gathered flowers and cards from her admirers before boarding the "royal tram" that took her to Parliament. She didn't stay in the city for very long; by last night she was already in Perth on the other side of the country.
